Beginning with a joint creative process, we first test the feasibility of ideas, we define the material requirements with regard to filling, transport, shelf life, safety and storage. Then we determine the type, size and weight of the packaging. Innovative and creative packaging designs generate greater interest and attention at the point of sale (POS) and ensure greater convenience, that is, ease of use of the packaging.
In the development phase, we work with the latest technologies such as 3D scans, 3D print samples, and photorealistic renderings. With the use of FEM simulations, we can reduce expensive and time-consuming correction loops to a minimum. Here, we work with structure analyses to simulate the stability and properties of the end product in advance. On the basis of these results, we develop and build a near-series pilot tool.
Our product development offers a key advantage: The total project schedule is shorter, more precise, more efficient, and risks are minimised. Our customers benefit from faster delivery times, greater flexibility, and significantly higher cost effectiveness.

For shorter development phases while maintaining the highest levels of precision for serial production, we create precise prototypes. Our company-internal 3D printer enables very fast reaction times. In addition – and depending on the requirements with regard to material, colour and volumes – we offer different methods of prototype creation: Selective laser sintering (SLS), stereolithography (STL) or vacuum casting. For optimal design of the serial tools, we rely on a combination of many years of experience and the latest simulation tools.
For the perfect end product, you require a highly precise tool and you will find both at SPIES: SPIES Kunststoffe GmbH and SPIES Formen- und Werkzeugbau GmbH work hand in hand – at the same location, cost effectively, and optimally aligned and coordinated.
The services provided on approximately 2,200 square metres range from the idea, through prototyping, right up to testing and maintenance and deployment of the tool in serial production. Precision is a byword at SPIES from when a tool is developed, and this is maintained throughout the process by way of air-conditioned manufacturing, high-precision zero point clamping systems, and processing centres, as well as laser measurement and inline measurement options for the work pieces.
Our in-house tool manufacturing offers our customers customised designs for each packaging idea, innovative technologies with the highest quality standards, and an optimal infrastructure through design and production at the same location.

Before serial production begins, we ensure that all customer requirements are met in full. We do this using extensive validation processes which, in addition to breaking tests, function tests, migration tests and transport tests, also include reviews of dimensional accuracy, tolerances and mechanical properties. These comprehensive tests ensure that the packaging solutions can stand up to the high requirements in practice.
Furthermore, we provide close support during the introduction of the new packaging to your production plants. This ensures seamless integration and a successful production start.

The precise and high-quality manufacture of your packaging is ensured by our state-of-the-art production plants with a high level of automation. Three optimally equipped factories in Germany with more than 100 automated injection-moulding plants provide optimal production conditions.
